About the Director

 

Mr. Jordan Patterson is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington, receiving the Summa Cum Laude honor. Mr. Patterson also has his masters from Walden University in Educational Leadership. Mr. Patterson taught at Waccamaw Middle School in Pawleys Island, SC for two years and now happily teaches at Thornburg Middle School. Mr. Patterson has received accolades worthy of mention, such as teacher of the year for the 2013-2014 school year and member of the teacher leadership team for the county.

 

About the Band

 

TMS performance groups include the 6th grade beginner band, 7th and 8th grade concert bands, and small ensembles. The 7th and 8th grade bands have consistently received superior ratings and results at local and district-wide competitions and assessments. The 6th grade bands have received a superior rating every year at the Kings Dominion Festival of Music for the past three years. Enrollment is consistently growing as the school has the largest 6th grade band it has ever seen this year- 83 students!
