7th Grade Band

 

7th Grade band is the second year of instruction in the TMS Band Program. Students will acquire the following skills in 7th grade band:

 

• experience continued success in band

• begin to learn the intricacies of their instruments such as intonation tendencies and reed/mouthpiece selection

• will know their Bb, F, Eb, Ab, G, and C scales

• Will know intermediate music theory such as rhythm, note-reading, and musical terms

• will gain more positive performance experience from the Veteran's Day Ceremony, Winter Concert, District Band Assessment, Spring Concert, and Solo and Ensemble Festival

• will feel confident and excited in moving onto the next level of band

• will continue to live up to the title of "musician".

 

8th Grade Band

 

8th Grade band is the third year of instruction in the TMS Band Program. Students will acquire the following skills in 8th grade band:

 

• experience heightened success in band

• continue to learn intricacies of their instrument as well as alternate fingerings for easier playing and basic repair techniques

• Begin to develop musical habits (height of a phrase, arriving and departing from climaxes, etc.)

• Will know their Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, F, C, G, and D concert scales as well as chromatic the required octave as outlined for higih school

• will know advanced music theory such as rhythm, note-reading, and musical terms

• will gain more positive performance experience through the Veteran's Day Ceremony, Winter Concert, District Band Assessment, Spring Concert, and Solo and Ensemble Festival

• will feel confident and excited about the possibilities that high school band holds

• will continue to live up to the title of "musician".
